Turf applications

Lime Application

Lime is a natural amendment that improves soil pH, enhances nutrient absorption, and loosens compacted soil. Our soil test will determine your soil's pH levels, indicating how much lime your soil needs.

Pre-Emergent

Pre-emergent herbicides prevent weed growth by forming a soil barrier that inhibits new weed seed germination. We apply this round of fertilizer in early spring, before annual weeds emerge.

Crabgrass Prevention

This application compliments our pre-emergent application nicely. This creates a protective barrier in the soil, preventing crabgrass seeds from sprouting and establishing themselves in your lawn.

Summer Fertilizer

Summer fertilizers are specially formulated to help lawns withstand heat and drought stress. They contain slow-release nitrogen to provide a steady supply of nutrients while minimizing the risk of fertilizer burn.

Post-Emergent

Post-emergent herbicides are applied to control weeds that have already sprouted. We use this application to prepare for our aeration and overseeding services

Winter Fertilizer

Winter fertilizer keeps young grass seeds growing and existing fescue healthy during the cold winter. This round is essential to complete after our aeration services to provide your young seed enough nutrients to continue to mature through the winter

Aeration & Over-seeding

Aeration reduces soil compaction, allowing for better air, water, and nutrient penetration to the roots. Overseeding introduces new grass seed into the existing lawn, filling in bare spots and thickening the turf for a healthier lawn.

Starter Fertlizer

Starter fertilizer is a specialized blend designed to give new lawns the best possible start. It's formulated with higher levels of phosphorus, a key nutrient that strengthens root development. This robust root system is crucial for young grass to establish itself, withstand drought, and compete effectively against weeds.

Fungicide Prevention

Brown patch is a fungal disease in North Carolina's humid climate, particularly affecting cool-season grasses. This disease thrives in warm, moist conditions and can quickly decimate lawns. Fungicide prevention is crucial for combating brown patches as it provides a protective barrier against the fungus before it can infect the grass. We apply three rounds of fungicide from May to August.

Grub & ArmyWorm Prevention

This past summer in 2024, we saw firsthand the devastating impacts of armyworms. Protect your lawn from the effects of armyworms with our expert prevention services. We utilize proven methods to safeguard your turf against these voracious pests.

Our program also includes the prevention of grub worms, which are just as devastating to your lawn. These C-shaped, white, or cream-colored creatures live underground and feed on the roots of your grass, weakening it and causing it to die. A few simple signs of a grubworm infestation include irregular brown patches, spongy or easily lifted grass, and birds digging in your lawn.

Our professional treatment programs include targeted treatments that effectively eliminate grub worms & armyworms.

Our proactive approach includes:

  • Strategic Timing: Applying preventative treatments in June to intercept grub & armyworm infestations before they occur.

  • High-Quality Products: Employing effective and environmentally responsible insecticides to minimize the risk of damage.

  • Thorough Application: Ensuring even coverage of your lawn for maximum protection.

  • Licensed & Trustworthy: As a chemically licensed and insured professional, you can trust Cornerstone Landscaping to handle all your lawn treatment needs.
